9. Find duplicates

Menu: Players → Find Duplicates

The same child often ends up in the system twice — signed up on the waiting list, added by hand, and then imported from the FA report. This screen groups records that look like the same person: those sharing a date of birth, or sharing a name.

Two players who each hold their own real FA Number are never grouped — different FA Numbers mean different registered children.

Waiting-list entries not yet converted are included, so you can spot a sign-up that is already a player before converting it.

Merging

Merging folds one record into another. The kept record's own details always win; empty fields are filled in from the duplicate so nothing visible is lost, and notes from both are combined. Guardians, squads, registrations, payments and payment history all move across, and the duplicate is deleted.

A merge is refused when both players have their own payment setup. Merging them could orphan a live Direct Debit. Sort it out in GoCardless first, then merge.
